Nairobi, Kenya — A son of the late influential politician Simeon Nyachae has revealed in court that he secretly investigated a woman claiming to be his father’s widow, igniting further drama in the ongoing battle over the late statesman’s estate.

Nyandusi Nyachae made the disclosure while testifying in a Nairobi family court. He admitted that he covertly looked into the background of Margaret Chweya—who insists she was married to the late Cabinet minister; without informing her. The revelation came during cross-examination by lawyer Martina Swiga.

According to Nyandusi, the first time he saw Margaret was at his father’s funeral, standing at the graveside; a space reserved for close family.

Despite her presence in such a personal setting, he said she was a complete stranger to him. When asked whether this might suggest she was part of the family, he flatly rejected the idea.

Pushed further by Swiga on whether he knew all of his father’s wives and romantic partners, Nyandusi responded confidently that he knew all of Nyachae’s wives, but admitted he couldn’t speak to whether his father had girlfriends.

Margaret Chweya, on the other hand, has stood firm in her claim. She told the court she was indeed Nyachae’s wife and had even legally changed her name to Margaret Kerubo Nyachae in 2021, just eight months after his passing.

With testimonies now concluded, the case rests in the hands of Family Court Judge Eric Ogola, who is tasked with determining whether Margaret has a legitimate claim to the late politician’s estate—a decision that could significantly reshape the inheritance landscape.
