KCB Bank Kenya, the KCB Foundation, and National Bank of Kenya (NBK) have announced a joint sponsorship of KShs. 11 million for the 2025 edition of the Rhino Charge, an annual off-road motorsport competition aimed at raising funds for environmental conservation.
This year’s event is set to take place in Baringo County over the weekend.
Of the total sponsorship, KShs. 10 million will support Car No. 44 (AK44), driven by renowned off-road competitor Adil Khawaja, while KShs. 1 million will go toward the EV Explorers, the first-ever electric vehicle to participate in the competition, driven by Nick Foley.
KCB Group Director of Marketing and Communications, Rosalind Gichuru, underscored the bank’s continued investment in both sports and sustainability.
“Our support reflects our belief in the power of sport to drive innovation and environmental impact,” she said.
The 2025 edition has drawn 65 teams, including celebrated drivers like Ian Duncan, Paul Foley, and Eddy Verbeek.
Scrutineering is scheduled for May 30, followed by the race on May 31, and the prize-giving ceremony on June 1.
NBK Managing Director, George Odhiambo, emphasized the bank’s commitment to eco-conscious initiatives.
“We are proud to support a cause that reflects resilience, stewardship, and a lasting legacy for Kenya’s natural heritage.”
The funds raised will support Rhino Ark Kenya Charitable Trust, which conserves Kenya’s vital “Water Towers”—mountain ecosystems that supply water to millions.
