Police in Migori County have launched investigations into the mysterious death of an unidentified woman whose body was discovered in River Kuja near the Gogo Power Station in the Uriri sub-county.
According to Kajulu Two Assistant Chief Charles Onindo, the body was spotted by local residents on Thursday and was partially concealed under banana leaves along the riverbank. Authorities suspect the woman may have been killed elsewhere and her body dumped at the scene to conceal the crime.
“The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, but initial signs suggest foul play,” said Onindo. “We believe this was not a drowning incident, but rather a case where the body was deliberately disposed of in the river.”
The body has been retrieved and taken to a local mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Police are appealing to members of the public who may have information that could assist in identifying the woman or shedding light on the incident to come forward. The investigation is ongoing.
