Boda Boda Rider and Passenger Reportedly Killed in President’s Convoy Incident

A vehicle in President William Ruto’s escort fatally struck a boda boda rider and a female passenger, killing them instantly at Kavingaci, near Eagle 1 along the Embu-Meru Highway.

The tragic incident occurred shortly after President William Ruto and Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire left a church service at Kigari College, with the vehicle forming part of their motorcade.

According to eyewitnesses, the high-speed escort vehicle veered off near the Kavingaci Bridge, colliding with the motorcycle before plunging into a river.

The crash has paralyzed traffic along the busy Embu-Meru highway, with authorities now urging motorists to avoid the Gakwegori–Kangaru stretch and instead seek alternative routes.

The identities of the deceased boda boda rider and his passenger are yet to be released as families are being notified.

This incident is likely to raise fresh questions about motorcade safety, escort vehicle speeds, and public risk, especially during presidential movements across the country.
