The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has officially restored access to its online voter verification portal after a temporary shutdown for maintenance. The move paves the way for millions of Kenyans to confirm their voter registration details ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the electoral body urged all registered voters to verify their personal information through either SMS or the online platform. This follows heightened public interest as the voter registration exercise draws nearer.
To verify voter details via SMS, Kenyans can send their national ID or passport number, whichever was used during registration, to 70000. For online verification, users can visit the IEBC portal at https://verify.iebc.or.ke, where they will be required to enter their ID or passport number and year of birth.
The system will display the voter’s full name, county, constituency, and ward, as well as their polling centre, station name, and stream number. Users can also download their details as a PDF for recordkeeping.

According to IEBC, the current voter register holds data for over 22.1 million Kenyans who participated in the 2022 polls. The commission is targeting to register an additional 5.7 million new voters, aiming for a total of around 28 million voters by 2027.
The IEBC has encouraged the public to take advantage of the reopened system to ensure the accuracy of their records, which is crucial for smooth participation in future electoral processes.
