“On 14 July 2025, police officers from Gatuanyaga Police Post, acting on intelligence provided by members of the public, conducted a successful operation at Nexus Club in Gatuanyaga,” the statement read.
The suspects are believed to have been involved in a robbery with violence case reported on Friday, July 11.
According to NPS, the operation not only led to their arrest but also the seizure of crucial evidence, including a firearm.
“The raid led to the arrest of four suspects linked to a robbery with violence case reported on 11 July 2025. Their arrest also resulted in the recovery of a Browning pistol and a blue Ranger motorcycle, both believed to have been used in the commission of the crime,” the statement added.
The suspects are currently being held in police custody ahead of their arraignment in court.
In a separate incident, detectives from Makindu Police Station have arrested a second suspect linked to the highway carjacking incident that occurred on July 13, 2025, along the Mombasa–Nairobi highway.
The arrest comes days after his accomplice was apprehended and a stolen Subaru Trezia was recovered in Ukia, Makueni Sub-County.
Investigators believe the arrested suspect played a key role in planning the attack and coordinating the getaway.
He is currently in custody and is set to be charged alongside his co-accused, who is already before the court.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the two are believed to be behind a highway ambush that left a motorist injured and his vehicle stolen.
The victim, who was driving from Mombasa to Malaba, had reportedly picked up two hitchhikers at Mariakani before the attack.
