Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP) Phelix Odiwour, alias Jalang’o, has expressed unwavering confidence that President William Ruto will secure a second term in the 2027 Kenyan presidential race.
Speaking during a candid conversation with media personality Alex Mwakideu on Thursday, July 17, 2025, Jalang’o stated that it is becoming increasingly difficult for Ruto to be dethroned.
He emphasised that Ruto is on track to reclaim the presidency and is poised to win by a wide margin.
According to him, there is no strong presidential candidate capable of defeating Ruto in the upcoming general elections.
“Ruto kurudi inaenda kuwa ngumu na kumtoa ndio inaenda kuwa ngumu zaidi, raisi William Ruto ndio anaenda kuwa raisi tena, anaenda kushinda mbali sana. Sijaona mtu anaweza kumtoa,” Jalang’o said.
“Sijaona mtu wakumtoa ama kumsumbua ndio sababu unaona anaongea akiwa na ile confidence anasema ‘sahi siasa bado itafika itaamuliwa’”
Pressure
The youthful parliamentarian acknowledged that there is both genuine public pressure and political pressure on the president. He noted that many people are already satisfied with the work Ruto has done so far, while political tensions persist.
Although Ruto’s administration has now completed two and a half years in office, Jalang’o pointed out that many of the promises made during the campaign are only just beginning to materialise or have not yet been fulfilled.
He added that it will be only a matter of time before citizens appreciate that real work has been carried out, as the results start to become visible.
“Hiyo pressure kuna ya ukweli ya watu ambayo wajaridhika na mweshimiwa raisi na utendakazi wake na pia kuna pressure ya kisiasa pia na kama ni utendakazi wake amekuwa miaka miwili na nusu lakini there are a lot of thinks he promised na zimeanza kuisha and soon and very soon watu wataku appreacite kuwa kazi ilikuwa ikifanyika he will be able to show something,” he added.
Ruto on the 2027 elections
This comes after Ruto declared that he will win the 2027 general elections by a landslide against the opposition, even though the United opposition, led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has vowed to unseat him.
Speaking in Kisumu Town ahead of the launch of the LV Point Affordable Housing precinct within LV Marina on Thursday, May 29, 2025, Ruto stated that the opposition has no plan or agenda for the Kenyan citizens.
“These are people who have no vision, no plan, and no agenda. We will show them dust; they won’t believe,” he stated.
“All they know is slogans: ‘Ruto must go,’ ‘Kasongo,’ ‘Wantam…’ And I want to tell you we are going to move this country forward.”
