Pop superstar Kelly Clarkson has entered into a new phase in her music career after a private equity firm, HarbourView Equity Partners, acquired a stake in her music catalogue, which includes some of her most iconic hits.
The North Texas native born in Fort Worth and raised in Burleson announced the partnership with the Newark, N.J.-based investment firm this week.
The deal encompasses a range of her most acclaimed songs, including Since U Been Gone, Because of You, Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You), Behind These Hazel Eyes, and Underneath the Tree.
“My music is such a huge part of my journey – not just professionally, but personally,” Clarkson said in a statement. “Knowing these songs will continue to be heard and discovered by new generations means everything to me.”
HarbourView, which focuses on music, media, sports, and entertainment investments, described Clarkson’s catalogue as “filled with anthems that have defined moments for millions.” Founder and CEO Sherrese Clarke Soares praised Clarkson as a “multi-hyphenate in entertainment” whose influence goes well beyond music.
Clarkson first rose to fame after winning the inaugural season of American Idol in 2002 and has since sold more than 25 million albums, earned three Grammy Awards, and become a household name through her Emmy-winning daytime talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show.
In addition to the deal, Clarkson remains active in live performance. She is scheduled to headline Band Together Texas, a flood relief concert in Austin on August 17, benefiting regional community foundations.
A long-time supporter of the Dallas Cowboys and proud Texan, Clarkson’s latest move solidifies her legacy while introducing her music to new investment frontiers — and new generations of fans.
