TikToker ‘Hon. Mosquito’ Arrested Over Incitement in Viral Video

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested popular Mombasa-based TikToker Shedrack Omondi Okindo, also known as Hon. Mosquito, over a viral video containing alleged incitement to violence and threats against the government.

According to a statement by the DCI, the video, posted on August 1, 2025, sparked public alarm after Okindo issued a direct warning to President William Ruto, demanding the release of two detained members of the anti-police brutality group Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI). The individuals in question are Jackson Kimani, alias Cop Shakur, and former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer Patrick Osoi.

In the widely circulated video, Okindo is heard saying, “I warn you, Ruto… release Patrick Osoi and Cop Shakur. There are so many comrades out there, you don’t know… We are tired and we will fight for our own. We are not GenZs, we are not civilians… Release those two comrades if you want peace.”

DCI officers launched an investigation and tracked Okindo to his hideout in the Miritini area of Mombasa County. During the operation, security personnel recovered two pairs of tactical combat fatigues, three mobile phones, a notebook containing calls for “guerrilla resistance tactics,” documents linked to a group called the Justice Direction Party, and other items of interest.

Okindo is currently in custody and undergoing police processing ahead of his arraignment. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to safeguarding public order and warned that incitement, whether online or offline, will be met with the full force of the law.
