Nyandarua Hosts Third Leg of PGK Equator Tour

Forty-three elite golfers teed off Thursday at the Mt. Kipipiri Golf & Resort for the third leg of the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) Equator Tour, a four-day contest running until August 17.

The event, part of PGK’s high-performance development programme, brings together top corporate-sponsored professionals competing for tour rankings and vital bragging rights.

The tour opened with a debut at Ruiru Sports Club, followed by a fiercely contested second leg at Limuru Country Club, where Greg Snow clinched victory with a stellar 276 (-12), edging Safaricom’s Mohit Mediratta (278, -10) and Mutahi Kibugu (280, -8).

NCBA-sponsored Edwin Mudanyi finished sixth at Limuru, while regional players also posted strong performances. NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to developing professional golf, linking it to Kenya’s goal of competing at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

“By supporting professionals with stable incomes, training, and competitive opportunities, we aim to see the Kenyan flag fly high on the world stage,” Gachora said.

NCBA’s sponsored players, Mudanyi, Erick Ooko, Abraham Galgallo, and Njuguna Ngugi, are receiving comprehensive backing, including tournament entry, training resources, and performance improvement tools.

PGK Chairman CJ Wangai credited corporate sponsorship with making consistent, high-level competition possible for Kenyan golfers.

Launched in mid-2025 as a three-year project, the Equator Tour is steadily raising the profile of the national golf scene while advancing the country’s Olympic aspirations.
