Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has vowed to continue pushing for answers in the chilling case of 42 women’s bodies found at the Kware dumpsite in Embakasi, despite being suspended from Parliament for 20 days.
The lawmaker took to X on Wednesday evening, hours after her suspension, declaring that the disciplinary action would not silence her calls for accountability.
The suspension followed a tense exchange in the National Assembly during the grilling of Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen over the state of national security.
During the session, Wamuchomba pressed Murkomen to account for the whereabouts of Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, an accused serial killer believed to be linked to the “dumpsite” murders.
Dissatisfied with the CS’s response, she threatened to walk out — and eventually did. Speaker Moses Wetang’ula then invoked standing orders 107A, 1A, and 3 to suspend her for disorderly conduct.
In her statement, Wamuchomba maintained that the Interior Ministry must explain who was behind the killings, how the suspect escaped from police custody, whether the case was closed, and if the victims’ families would be compensated.
‘’Expunged or not, my question still represents the pain of many Kenyans. Who eliminated and dumped women’s bodies in the Kware dumpsite in Embakasi? Why did he escape from the police cells? What is the Ministry doing about it? Is the case closed? Are victims being considered for compensation?’’ the MP asked.
7“After my 20 days of suspension from Parliament, I will revisit.”
Public opinion remains divided. Supporters praised her for speaking out, while critics argued she squandered the chance to press Murkomen further by walking out.
“You had an opportunity to grill the CS and allow follow-up questions, but you chose otherwise,” one Kenyan commented.
Wamuchomba’s return date will depend on the parliamentary calendar, as recess days are excluded from the suspension period, placing her likely comeback in mid-September. The case remains one of the most disturbing unresolved criminal matters in recent years.
