As President William Ruto nears the third anniversary of his presidency on September 13, 2025, his administration highlights milestones in economic reform, job creation, youth empowerment, agriculture, health, education, and international diplomacy.
Under the Bottom-Up Economic Model, the government has prioritized micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), improved access to credit, and stabilized inflation. While economic growth slowed to 4.5% in 2024 (World Bank), these interventions have cushioned vulnerable sectors and supported informal businesses across the country.
Beyond housing, the administration has generated over 300,000 jobs through public works, youth internship programs, and skills development initiatives. Programs targeting the 18–35 age group have provided practical experience in various sectors, enhancing employability and reducing youth unemployment pressures.
To strengthen food security, Ruto’s government has implemented fertilizer subsidies and crop support schemes. Initiatives such as the Coffee Advance Fund and input subsidies for maize, tea, and horticulture have boosted productivity for smallholder farmers and increased household incomes nationwide.
The government has expanded access to healthcare and education by hiring additional nurses, doctors, and teachers, while upgrading hospital and school infrastructure across counties. Efforts focus on ensuring equitable service delivery to urban and rural populations.
Ruto has elevated Kenya’s international profile, participating in forums like the Africa Climate Summit, where Kenya pledged USD 23 billion in climate action funding. The president has also chaired the East African Community, contributed to UN-backed missions in Haiti, and engaged in regional diplomatic initiatives.
These achievements reflect a multifaceted approach to governance, balancing domestic development with global engagement and youth empowerment. As Ruto nears the three-year milestone, analysts say these initiatives lay the foundation for sustainable socio-economic transformation in Kenya.
