The Ministry of Health is deepening collaboration with partners to strengthen specialized healthcare and expand training opportunities in Kenya.
Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, today received a delegation from OhanaOne led by Co-Founder Dr. David Kulber.
The discussions focused on four priorities: expanding healthcare access for low-income and indigent populations; improving sustainability and efficiency of the health system; building a stronger health workforce; and scaling up Social Health Insurance (SHI).
Dr. Oluga noted that while Kenya’s health workforce is globally admired, there remains a need for more skilled professionals. He emphasized that this creates opportunities for structured, innovative, and sustainable partnerships to strengthen capacity and deliver lasting impact.
OhanaOne acknowledged its partnership with the Ministry of Health in supporting the burn unit at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), which will provide critical training for resident plastic surgeons from the University of Nairobi.
The meeting also explored potential collaboration with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, USA, to advance capacity building and specialist training.
The delegation included Salim Hasham (Global Advisor, Cedars-Sinai Africa), Prof. Nangole (Head of Plastic Surgery, UoN), Olive Kulola (Kenya Association of Plastic Surgery Secretariat), Dr. Nick Were (Resident Plastic Surgeon, UoN), Peter and Cecilia Ronoh (OhanaOne Africa Coordinators), and Carol Kulber.
