Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister Maxime Prévot Begins Official Visit to Kenya

By Michelle Ndaga

Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, and Development Cooperation, H.E. Maxime Prévot, arrived in Nairobi on Tuesday evening for a two-day official visit.

He was received at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by Ambassador Njambi Kinyungu, Deputy Director General for Multilateral Affairs, and senior Belgian Embassy officials.

During his visit, Prévot will hold bilateral talks with senior Kenyan government officials and tour development projects funded by Belgium, including initiatives in environmental conservation, digital transformation, and support for refugee-hosting communities.

The visit is part of a wider regional tour that has taken him to Congo-Brazzaville and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with Ethiopia scheduled as his next stop. It reflects Belgium’s strategy to strengthen cooperation with East and Central Africa on peacebuilding, humanitarian aid, and sustainable development.
