Kitui County Assembly Speaker Kevin Kinengo Katisya has urged local leaders to shelve early campaign activities and instead focus on delivering development projects promised to residents.

With the 2027 general elections still two years away, Kinengo warned that premature electioneering risks derailing key projects, some of which are nearing completion while others are yet to break ground.

“I know most of us are politicians, but I request that we prioritize working for this county and avoid early campaigns,” the Speaker said. He stressed that leaders’ performance, rather than campaign rhetoric, would ultimately shape their political fortunes.

“What will matter in 2027 is the work that leaders have done. Eighty percent of the work you’ve done well for the people will ensure you return to office,” Kinengo added.

The Speaker further called for unity and collaboration between the County Assembly and the executive arm of government, led by Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe, to fast-track service delivery.

“As members of the County Assembly, we will work in cooperation with the county executive to ensure project delivery,” Kinengo concluded.

His remarks come amid rising political activity in Kitui, where residents continue to press for the completion of stalled infrastructure and social programs promised during the last election cycle.
