Six people were killed and at least four others injured after a lorry plowed into pedestrians at Kipsitet along the Kericho–Kisumu Highway on Tuesday night.
Confirming the incident to KTN, Soin OCPD Kisini said the lorry, which was ferrying scrap metal towards Kisumu, veered off the road and rammed into people waiting for transport at the bus stage.
Rescue efforts by residents and emergency responders helped rush the injured to nearby hospitals.
The bodies of the deceased were moved to the mortuary, while the vehicle’s wreckage was cleared from the scene to restore traffic flow.
Police have launched investigations to establish the cause of the crash. Authorities are also urging motorists to exercise caution along the busy Kericho–Kisumu stretch, which has recorded a series of deadly accidents in recent months.
