The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has secured a life sentence for a 36-year-old man convicted of incest and child abuse, marking another firm step in protecting vulnerable members of society.

The convict was handed life imprisonment by Principal Magistrate Hon. Abdul at the Kibera Law Courts for defiling his 13-year-old daughter. He was further sentenced to an additional five years in prison for subjecting the minor to cruelty, including repeated assaults with a knife and pinching her ears with pegs.

The additional term will remain in abeyance while he serves his life sentence. The prosecution, led by Ms. Keitany, presented compelling evidence including medical reports and witness testimony.

The court heard that the girl, after being rescued and placed in a children’s home, confided in a social worker about the abuse she endured.

In her ruling, Magistrate Abdul described the crime as “a complete lack of humanity,” stressing that defiling one’s own daughter was the ultimate betrayal of parental duty.

She commended the prosecution’s thoroughness, noting the case had been proven beyond reasonable doubt.

The ruling underscores the judiciary’s resolve to impose maximum penalties for sexual offences against children.
