United States Chargé d’Affaires Susan Burns has reaffirmed her country’s commitment to strengthening ties with Kenya across key sectors, including trade, health, and security.
Speaking during a courtesy call on the Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula, Ms. Burns commended Kenya for its leadership role in promoting regional and global peace.
She also emphasized that the United States values Kenya as a dependable partner in advancing shared interests.
The two leaders discussed ongoing collaborations, with Ms. Burns noting that President William Ruto is scheduled to meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio this week to deliberate on ways to further deepen bilateral relations.
On health, Ms. Burns lauded Kenya’s remarkable progress in the fight against HIV, pointing out that the country has achieved epidemic control.

She reassured that the United States remains a leading partner in supporting health and humanitarian programs in Kenya.
The talks also touched on trade and investment opportunities, with Ms. Burns expressing optimism about forthcoming negotiations on a comprehensive trade agreement.
She added that American technology companies were keen on exploring opportunities in Kenya, particularly to empower youth in the creative economy.
Speaker Wetang’ula, on his part, underscored the importance of sustaining strong cooperation between Kenya and the United States in areas such as infrastructure, governance, and economic growth.
He welcomed continued support in strengthening institutions, including the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), ahead of the upcoming by-elections.
Kenya and the United States share a long-standing relationship spanning decades, anchored on mutual respect and a shared vision for peace, stability, and prosperity.
