Kakamega county announces 3,000 job vacancies; how to apply 

The Kakamega County government has announced 3000 job opportunities under the Youth Service and Women Empowerment Program.

In a notice on Thursday, October 2, Kakamega County invited the youth and women to apply for the positions.

“Pursuant to the Constitution of Kenya 2010 under Article 55, the County Governments Act No. 17 of 2012, and in accordance with the provisions of Section 6 of the Kakamega County Youth and Women Service Act number 5 of 2019, applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the above positions,” the notice read.

Under the program, the servicemen and women will be tasked with road maintenance, bush clearing, maintenance of drainage systems, office cleaning, and support services.

They will also be responsible for cleaning market centers, providing sentry services, and carrying out any other lawful assignments as directed by the Programme Director.

“The County Youth Service and Women Empowerment Programme shall offer the youth and women an opportunity to engage in economically viable ventures that shall include road maintenance, environmental sanitation, and hygiene,” the county stated.

The servicemen and women will report to the Kakamega County Director, County Youth Service, and Women Empowerment Programme.

Interested candidates are required to have a valid Kenyan ID card or passport and must be residents of Kakamega County within the specified community areas.

The applicants should be between 18 and 35 years for youth or 35 to 55 years for women. They must also be in good medical condition, physically able to perform assigned duties, and successfully pass an aptitude test.

Successful candidates will be required to provide a certificate of good conduct, undergo paramilitary training, and attend additional training sessions at county polytechnics two days a week

Interested candidates should pick up the application forms from their respective ward administrators’ offices.

The duly filled application forms should be returned to the ward administrator’s office on/or before October 10, 2025.

Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend from the Kakamega County government.

Further, Kakamega County urged persons living with disabilities (PWD) to apply for the positions.
