Kenya has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing immunisation as a key pillar of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through its longstanding partnership with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
The Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, hosted the Gavi technical mission team at Afya House, led by Senior Country Manager Billie-Jean Nieuwenhuys and Senior Manager for Portfolio Financial Management Daudi Ssali. Also in attendance was Dr. Rose Jalango, Head of the National Vaccines and Immunisation Programme at the Ministry of Health.
Discussions highlighted Gavi’s instrumental role in strengthening Kenya’s immunisation agenda, which is central to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to safeguarding the health of Kenyans, while recognising immunisation as both a cornerstone of public health and a driver of economic transformation.
The meeting further emphasised the importance of continued cooperation with partners such as UNICEF and the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) to ensure sustainable progress in vaccine delivery, health systems strengthening, and equitable access to essential services.
