The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has unveiled a state-of-the-art material and testing laboratory, marking a major step in strengthening quality assurance in road construction and maintenance.

The facility, officially opened by the Corridor A team led by Corridor Director Eng. Denis Odeck, is designed to conduct comprehensive laboratory tests on soils, gravel, paints, bituminous mixes, cement, and concrete, among other materials critical to highway projects.
By establishing the in-house laboratory, KeNHA expects to significantly reduce costs associated with outsourcing material testing services while enhancing efficiency and reliability in the delivery of road infrastructure.
Speaking during the launch, Eng. Odeck underscored that the new laboratory reaffirms KeNHA’s commitment to sustainability by ensuring that all works undertaken meet the highest quality standards. He noted that the facility will play a key role in promoting durability and safety of road networks across the country.
The laboratory is expected to serve as a benchmark for material testing in Kenya, further boosting the Authority’s mission of delivering world-class road infrastructure that supports national development and regional integration.
