Security agencies in Baringo County have received another illegal firearm as the ongoing government-led amnesty and disarmament exercise continues to make significant progress in restoring peace and stability in the region.
On October 10, 2025, a resident of Adome Village in Nakoko Sub-Location, Silale Location, voluntarily surrendered an AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine to security officers stationed in the area.
According to authorities, the latest surrender brings the total number of illegal weapons handed over in Baringo County to 75 AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, and 227 rounds of ammunition since the initiative began.
The National Police Service (NPS) has lauded the resident’s cooperation and reiterated its appreciation to all community members who have responded positively to the government’s ongoing appeal to surrender illegal firearms.
The NPS emphasized that the disarmament exercise remains central to promoting long-term peace, improving security, and supporting development efforts in areas previously affected by banditry and inter-community conflict.
