Nandi County Senator Samson Cheragei has stated that the Wiper Party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, should not complain about being denied a chance to speak at the state funeral of former prime minister and ODM leader Raila Odinga at Nyayo Stadium on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Cherargei’s sentiments come hours after his Kiambu County compatriot Karungo wa Thang’wa has blasted the ruling regime, led by President William Ruto, for denying United Opposition leaders comprising Kalonzo Musyoka and People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua a chance to speak during the ceremony.
The Kiambu Senator said it was not a good show to deny Kalonzo and Karua an opportunity to eulogise their closest political ally, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader.
At the event, retired president Uhuru Kenyatta and the incumbent William Ruto were the only notable top figures in the country’s political arena who got a chance to speak about Raila Odinga’s general life.
Karungo wa Thang’wa added that both Kalonzo and Martha Karua were closer to the departed former prime minister than anyone who spoke, yet they were ignored by the master of the ceremony, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
On his part, Senator Cherargei, on Saturday, October 18, 2025, said Kalonzo Musyoka should be the last person to complain about being denied the opportunity to share a word on his long-term political ally after betraying him in the 2007 election chaos.
”Kalonzo should be the last to complain that he was denied the chance to eulogise Jakom Raila yesterday at the state funeral service.
“He should be reminded in 2007, when Raila was a heartbeat away from the presidency, he betrayed him by running against him and supporting the illegitimate win of Kibaki that plunged the country into the 2007/08 post-election violence (PV), while President Ruto stood with Raila until he became the 2nd prime minister of Kenya,’ Cherargei took to X on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
