The military aircraft transporting the body of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has landed at his Opoda farm residence in Bondo, Siaya County, where an overnight vigil will be held.
The body departed Kisumu shortly after 3 p.m., following a day-long public viewing at the Mamboleo grounds.
As outlined in the funeral programme by the steering committee, commendation prayers will be led by clergy from the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK).
Raila Odinga’s family, led by his wife Ida Odinga and his brother, Senator Oburu Oginga, has called for calm and a respectful show of unity from supporters in the lead-up to his burial on Sunday.
The funeral service is scheduled to take place at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) grounds.
Proceedings are expected to commence at 7 a.m. with the arrival of family members, dignitaries, and other invited guests.
