Kenya has reaffirmed its partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to enhance reproductive health financing and supply systems as part of the country’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.
On October 21, 2025, Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale met with a delegation from the Global Steering Committee of the UNFPA Supplies Partnership, led by Mr. Anders Thomsen, to deepen cooperation aligned with Kenya’s health priorities.
The meeting underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring reproductive health commodity security and celebrated achievements under the Compact Agreement a framework that has promoted accountability and sustainable domestic financing for family planning services. Kenya’s consistent contributions and progressive budget allocations have positioned it as a regional model in reproductive health stewardship.
CS Duale highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to reinforce health supply chains through sustainable financing, the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) framework, and a firm commitment to keeping family planning fully funded, accessible, and rights-based.
He also noted the central role of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) and the Integrated Family Planning Logistics Management Information System (ILMIS) in improving visibility and reliability of commodity distribution across all counties.
Duale reaffirmed Kenya’s long-term goal of building resilient national health systems through robust financial structures, emphasizing that the Social Health Authority (SHA) will help bridge equity gaps and guarantee comprehensive healthcare access for vulnerable populations.
