Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has accused the state of orchestrating a voter transfer from neighbouring areas to influence the outcome of the Malava constituency election.
Speaking during a rally in Mutsuma while campaigning for Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) candidate Seth Panyako on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Khalwale claimed that voters from regions such as Uasin Gishu are being transferred to Malava to benefit United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate David Ndakwa.
“Mambo yenye serikali iko nayo nimeambiwa kitu ya kwanza wamejua ati Seth Panyako amewashinda serikali imeanza kusajili majirani wetu kutoka huko waanze kupiga kura hapa Malava,” Khalwale said
According to Khalwale, the government is aware that Panyako has significant support and has already won in the by-election; the state has now resorted to desperate measures of registering voters from other regions to come and vote for their UDA candidate, who is not as popular as Seth Panyako.
Invoking his mandate as a senior parliamentarian, Khalwale called on IEBC Chairman Erastus Ethekon to intervene, warning against the illegal transfer of voters and emphasising that such actions must be stopped.
“Chairman wa IEBC sikiza, I am one of the senior-most parliamentarians. I warn you maneno ya kuhamisha wapigaji kura kutoka uasin gishu wanandi wakuje wapige kura huku uache,” he added.
These come after him in the company of Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, who stormed the constituency to campaign for Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) Seth Panyako, who is set to face UDA’s David Ndakwa in the upcoming minipolls.
The two are set to hold rallies in different areas, beginning with Mutsuma, St. Gerald, and finally Muruma on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
This comes at a time when Boni Khalwale has received backlash after deciding to throw his weight behind DAP-K’s candidate, leaving his UDA colleague, David Ndakwa, despite him being elected and serving as UDA Majority Whip in the Senate.
He went on to assure Seth Panyako of support, saying that the whole DAP-K brigade, led by Eugene Wamalwa, George Natembeya, and other leaders such as Cyrus Jirongo, who recently threw his support behind Panyako, will camp in the tallying centre to make sure that his votes are not stolen.
