Nairobi, November 10, 2025, a man accused of fraudulently obtaining accommodation and services worth more than Ksh 5.5 million from a Nairobi hotel has been released on bond after appearing before the Milimani Law Courts.

Kelvin Obondo Odhiambo, alias Hon. Nyalik Oselu, was charged with obtaining credit by false pretenses.

According to the charge sheet filed by DCI Kamukunji, the accused, jointly with others not before the court, allegedly incurred a debt at Gem Suites Hotel between November 28, 2024, and March 3, 2025. He is said to have received accommodation services valued at Ksh 3,120,000 and consumed food, drinks and other items worth Ksh 2,413,000, all totaling Ksh 5,533,000 by falsely pretending that he was in a position to pay.

He was arrested on November 7, 2025, and presented in court on November 10, 2025, after being held in custody.

During the proceedings, his lawyer requested the court to consider granting bail, arguing that the accused was ready to cooperate with investigators and that his release would enable him to assist in producing the exhibits relevant to the case.

The court also heard that the accused currently has an active warrant of arrest issued under Kilimani Police Station.

After listening to both sides, the court granted a bond of Ksh 1 million or a cash bail of Ksh 400,000, with one contact person required to ensure his attendance in court.

The complainant in the case is Gem Suites Hotel, represented through Nancy Odera, with several witnesses listed, including hotel staff and police officers involved in the investigation.

The case will be mentioned on November 19, 2025, at the Milimani Law Courts.
