Jose Mourinho has reportedly left Turkish club Fenerbahce with an eye-watering £656,000 hotel bill after spending nearly his entire 16-month stint in Istanbul living at the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel on the Bosphorus.
The Portuguese coach, who joined Fenerbahce in June 2024 following his dismissal from Roma, was sacked just six games into the 2025–26 season. His short-lived tenure may now be remembered less for results and more for the extravagant accommodation costs he allegedly left behind.
According to reports from Turkish outlet Yenicag, Mourinho stayed in the five-star hotel—set inside a former 19th-century Ottoman palace—throughout his time in Turkey, resisting any move to rent a private residence. The bill reportedly came to 36.5 million Turkish lira, equivalent to about £656,000.
The Four Seasons offers lavish amenities, including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a spa, and fine dining. Staff there revealed Mourinho’s go-to order was simple but consistent: chicken soup, margherita pizza, ice cream, and sparkling water.
It remains unclear whether Fenerbahce or Mourinho himself is expected to settle the hefty tab. The 62-year-old reportedly received a £7.7 million payout upon his dismissal, making the sum manageable should the bill land on his desk.
This is not the first time the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss has chosen hotel life over a permanent home. During his spell at Manchester United from 2016 to 2018, Mourinho famously lived at The Lowry Hotel for 895 days, racking up a £537,000 bill.
Now managing Benfica in Portugal, Mourinho’s taste for hotel luxury appears as enduring as his reputation for drama—on and off the pitch.
