Kenya Railways Announces Additional Madaraka Express Trains and Their Schedules

Kenya Railways has announced additional Madaraka Express Passenger Service trips to cater to increased passenger demand over the weekend.

In a notice released on Thursday, November 13, the rail transport operator revealed that extra trips will run on Friday, November 14, and Saturday, November 15, 2025, on both the Mombasa-Nairobi and Nairobi-Mombasa routes.

According to the notice, the Friday trip will depart from Mombasa to Nairobi at 9:45 a.m., arriving in Voi at 11:21 a.m. The train will then depart from Voi at 11:26 hours and arrive in Nairobi at 15:48 hours.

On Saturday, the additional service will operate in the opposite direction, departing Nairobi at 09:45 hours and arriving in Mombasa at 15:36 hours, with stops in Voi at 13:35 hours (arrival) and 13:40 hours (departure).

Passengers are advised to book their tickets through official channels, including the Metickets website at www.metickets.co.ke, by dialing *639#, or by visiting any SGR station nationwide to secure their seats.

This comes a week after Kenya Railways warned Kenyans about fraudulent TikTok accounts impersonating official SGR booking services.

On Thursday, November 6, the rail operator issued a public alert cautioning travelers against scammers who have established fake social media pages falsely advertising SGR ticket booking services.

“Please note that these pages are managed by fraudsters who are out to con unsuspecting members of the public. Kenya Railways does not have an official TikTok account, and any accounts claiming to represent us on that platform are fake,” the earlier statement indicated.

The rail operator has exposed several fraudulent pages operating across different social media platforms, all of which falsely claim to provide SGR booking services.

Among those identified was a public group titled “SGR Online Booking Service” with approximately 19,100 members, and another private group called “SGR-Madaraka Express booking solutions” with around 9,100 members.

The scammers have been taking advantage of the SGR service’s popularity, particularly targeting passengers who are unfamiliar with legitimate booking channels and those searching for what appear to be convenient alternatives to the official booking process.

Kenya Railways has consistently urged passengers only to use authorized booking platforms to avoid falling victim to these fraudulent schemes.
