  • Bayern Munich won their eighth consecutive Bundesliga title on Tuesday night
  • Hansi Flick’s side beat Werder Bremen 1-0 to clinch the German title
  • The players celebrated on the pitch wearing t-shirts with the number ‘8’ on
  • Robert Lewandowski scored his 31st goal of the season

Bayern Munich players celebrated their eighth consecutive Bundesliga title after a 1-0 victory against Werder Bremen on Tuesday night.

The players wore t-shirts with the number ‘8’ brandished across the front alongside the club badge, as the German topflight became the first league be to settled post-coronavirus lockdown.

Robert Lewandowski scored the only goal of the match to see Hansi Flick win his first Bundesliga title since taking over as manager of Bayern earlier in the season.

On the back of the shirts the players wore after the match, they showed every year that the German giants had won the Bundesliga since its inception.

They also wore special hats to mark the occasion, which also had the number ‘8’ on the front of them to commemorate their eighth title in a row.

Their league triumph marked the 30th in their clubs’ history – the most of any German club in the history of the competition.

Their celebrations were not what the Bayern players have been used to over the years, however, as there were no fans inside the stadium.

The coronavirus pandemic has meant that no spectators have been allowed to watch the games from the stadium as the league has been resumed behind closed doors.

Bayern’s elation carried on into the changing rooms at the Weserstadion, as the players and club posted several images of the celebrations once they had left the pitch.

Defender David Alaba, Alphonso Davies and Jerome Boateng all posed for a picture as the caption read: ‘The happiest defense in the Bundesliga’.

Lewandowski couldn’t stop showing off his new t-shirt as he smiled for the camera in the away team changing rooms after scoring the decisive goal.

Defender Theo Hernandes and Benjamin Pavard also took a photo together, as they seemed to be enjoying a drink after both featured in the 1-0 victory.

Bayern Munich controlled much of the match and were rewarded for their dominance in the 41st minute.

Striker Lewandowski marked the memorable evening with a goal as he timed his run perfectly past the Bremen defence and controlled the ball with his chest before volleying home. The strike took his season tally to a mightily impressive 31 goals.

It wasn’t the most comfortable night for Bayern, with Alphonso Davies receiving a red card late on, but after a first-class save from Manuel Neuer in injury time they rode out the Bremen onslaught to secure their 30th Bundesliga crown.

The German giants have two matches left to play this season against Freiburg and Wolfsburg.
