The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has slapped Lydia Cheptarus Cheruiyot with a two-year doping ban for Presence/Use of a Prohibited Substance (Triamcinolone acetonide), which is a violation of the World Anti-doping Agency.
The 25 year-old, who is from the Kenya Defecnce Forces (KDF), was caught on September 28, 2025 at the Wecasablanca International Challenge in Morocco, where she provided a urine Sample, In-Competition.
Cheruiyot was notified by AIU on October 29, 2025, of the Adverse Analytical Finding in accordance with Article 5.1.2.1 of the ISRM, and she admitted of Anti-Doping Rule Violations and accepted the Consequences by signing the form on October 31, 2025.
The AIU had no evidence that the Anti-Doping Rule Violations were intentional and was therefore issued with the mandatory period of Ineligibility of two (2) years.
The period of Ineligibility commenced on October 31, 2025 and her results were disqualified from September 28, 2025, including the forfeiture of any titles, awards, medals, points, prizes and appearance money.
Cheruiyot was caught in Morocco after finishing in third place in a time of 31:30 behind the winner Lakini Amebaw of Ethiopia and Jane Chacha from Kenya who pulled respective time of 29:54 and 31:26.
