Odinga Family Appeals for Financial Support as They Honour Late Beryl Achieng Odinga

The Odinga family has reached out to Kenyans for financial support to help cover funeral expenses for the late Beryl Achieng Odinga, younger sister of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga described her sister as a warm, generous, and deeply loved family member, whose passing has left the family devastated.

A memorial service and mini fundraiser are scheduled for Sunday, November 30, 2025, at House No. 5, Mwingi Villas, Mwingi Road in Kileleshwa, starting at 4pm.

The gathering aims to bring together friends, colleagues, and members of the wider community for an evening of prayer, remembrance, and solidarity. Contributions to a dedicated funeral fund can be made via Paybill number 8002413. The family urged Kenyans to support them during this difficult period.

Beryl Achieng Odinga passed away on November 25, 2025, while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi hospital. A distinguished professional, she left an indelible mark in Kenya and Zimbabwe.

She made history as the first black Town Clerk of Mutare, Zimbabwe’s third-largest city, and later served as Company Secretary at the Housing Corporation of Zimbabwe.

In 2020, she was appointed to the board of the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company. Her career spanned continents and sectors, including teaching and law, reflecting her lifelong commitment to public service and leadership.

The family has confirmed Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya County, as the burial site, with guidance and approval from Siaya Senator Dr Oburu Oginga.

Raila Odinga Junior announced the decision on social media, noting that further details regarding the funeral programme will be shared in due course. The family expressed gratitude for the support and prayers of well-wishers during this period of mourning.
