The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued an advisory for continued rainfall and strong winds across various parts of the country from Friday, December 19, through Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
Regions such as Nairobi, Kiambu, Siaya, Kisumu, Nakuru, Kitui, Machakos, and Mombasa are expected to experience showers and rainfall.
Machakos, specifically, is forecasted to see cloudy conditions with chances of rain. Today, December 19, Machakos is expected to have cloudy skies early with some sunshine later, reaching a high of 79°F (26°C). Nighttime will bring cloudy skies and a low near 60°F (15°C).
Over the weekend, Saturday, December 20, will be mostly cloudy with a high of 80°F (27°C) and a low of 60°F (15°C), with early showers expected in some areas like Mbiuni. Sunday, December 21, anticipates intervals of clouds and sunshine, with a high of 78°F (25°C) and a low of 60°F (15°C), and a 40-50% chance of showers.
Other areas, including Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi, can expect cloudy conditions with light morning showers and sunny intervals, with afternoon and night showers also likely.
Maximum temperatures in these areas are projected to be around 29°C, with minimums of 5°C. Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties will experience similar weather but with warmer temperatures, reaching up to 32°C maximum and 13°C minimum.
Furthermore, Marsabit and Turkana counties are on alert for strong southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots (12.5 m/s) during this period.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions as these weather patterns unfold.
