Eight people have been confirmed dead, while seven others escaped with serious injuries following a fatal road accident that occurred on Tuesday night at Mukhonje Trading Centre in Lugari Constituency, Kakamega County.
The accident occurred along the busy Eldoret–Webuye highway which involved a matatu and a truck.
According to witnesses, the matatu, which was traveling from Eldoret, crashed into the truck that had been parked on the road as the driver was trying to overtake.
Maturu Sub-location Assistant Chief Samuel Wamalwa confirmed the incident and said the matatu driver is among those who lost their lives in the crash.
