African Energy Chamber, ccCASH Partner to Bring Climate Finance Directly to African Households

“Clean cooking is fundamentally a financing challenge,” said NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the AEC. “ccCASH offers a scalable, African-led solution that delivers real impact at household level.”

SANDTON, South Africa,

The African Energy Chamber (AEC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with (B)energy, developer of the ccCASH initiative, to create a continent-wide financing mechanism for clean cooking and household energy transition.

With over 200 million African households still dependent on polluting cooking fuels, the partnership aims to unlock climate finance by rewarding households directly for verified climate, health, and social benefits generated through clean cooking solutions. Under the MOU, ccCASH will function as a digital, technology-neutral clean cooking currency supporting solutions such as LPG, biogas, ethanol, and electric cooking.

The AEC will promote ccCASH across its pan-African network, aligning it with national energy and climate strategies, while (B)energy will lead platform development and implementation in collaboration with governments, investors, and development partners.

“Clean cooking is fundamentally a financing challenge,” said NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the AEC. “ccCASH offers a scalable, African-led solution that delivers real impact at household level.”

“Partnering with the AEC enables ccCASH to scale across Africa,” said Katrin Puetz, CEO of (B)energy. “It brings together industry, governments, and development partners around a new clean cooking finance model.”

The initiative supports national climate commitments and high-integrity climate finance. In early 2026, the partners will host a high-level webinar to engage corporates, investors, and governments on pilot projects and national rollouts.
