TAIPEI, Taiwan
Professional climber Alex Honnold’s planned free solo ascent of Taipei 101 was postponed for 24 hours Saturday due to adverse weather, organizers announced less than an hour before the live global broadcast was set to begin.
The ropeless climb of the iconic Taiwan skyscraper, scheduled to air live on Netflix on Saturday evening in the U.S., was rescheduled for Sunday morning local time to ensure Honnold’s safety under forecasted sunnier skies.

Netflix confirmed that safety was the top priority for the high-stakes event.
Organizers had earlier acknowledged the risk of rain and were prepared to delay. A crowd of about 100 spectators who gathered to watch expressed understanding and disappointment.
“His safety comes first, and I’ll still come back tomorrow,” said Taiwanese fan Queenie Chang.
The rescheduled climb will now air live in the United States on Saturday at 5 p.m. Pacific and 8 p.m. Eastern.
