The late Rev. Deacon Dennis Maithya from the Catholic Diocese of Kitui, who died on 23rd January 2026 through a tragic road accident along the Mwingi–Nguni Road, will be laid to rest on Monday, 2nd February 2026.
The Burial Mass, expected to be presided over by Bishop Joseph Mwongela, will take place at St. Patrick’s Mutune Parish grounds, followed by burial rites and interment at St. Patrick’s Mutune Cemetery.
The burial Mass programme will be as follows:
7.00 a.m. – Arrival at Tribute Funeral Home, Syongila
7.30 a.m. – Procession to St. Patrick’s Parish, Mutune
8.00 a.m. – Reception of the body at the parish
8.30 a.m. – Viewing of the body
10.00 a.m. – Burial Mass
Vigil Masses will be celebrated on Sunday, 1st February 2026, at 5.00 p.m. at the Cathedral, Museve, Kauma (Kasyala Parish), Nguni, Mutune, and Nguutani Parishes.
Deacon Dennis was ordained on 8th December 2025 and was serving at St. Patrick’s Parish, Nguni, at the time of his death.
