​Mystery death at Kericho lodging prompts police inquiry

Witnesses reported that three men checked into the lodge with the woman on Monday night. One suspect has been arrested, while two others reportedly fled the scene and are currently the subject of a police manhunt.

Police in Kericho have launched a homicide investigation after a woman’s body was discovered on Tuesday morning, February 3, 2026, at a lodging in the Brooke Trading Centre. 


Lodge attendants discovered the woman’s body on a bed inside one of the rooms at approximately 7:00 a.m. Preliminary reports indicate she had sustained stab wounds.

Witnesses reported that three men checked into the lodge with the woman on Monday night. One suspect has been arrested, while two others reportedly fled the scene and are currently the subject of a police manhunt.

Two lodge caretakers who were responsible for booking the group into the premises have also been detained at Brooke Police Station for questioning.

Detectives have secured the scene and are reviewing CCTV footage to establish the timeline of events. The victim’s body has been moved to the mortuary awaiting a postmortem.
