Members of the hub have also benefited from the NYOTA program, including Loroo who benefited from the NYOTA Business Support and is currently undergoing mentorship and others going through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) training.

The MSEA Turkana regional office led by the regional head Vincent Parlor accompanied by officers from WestPokot today visited Mr. Loroo Esekon Emmanuel, Chairperson of Turkana Tech Youth Hub CBO, during a field profiling visit in Kanamkemer.

Through the CBO, Loroo and his team are empowering youth and women with practical skills in welding, metal fabrication, plumbing, electrical works, agribusiness, and environmental conservation. The hub has already trained over 40 youth, many of whom have established their own businesses.

Driven by a passion for environmental conservation, Loroo developed a metal alternative to the traditional “ekicholong” stool, an innovation that earned him a Presidential Innovation Award.

He is now working with the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute to develop a climate-smart stool made from recycled plastic materials.

Members of the hub have also benefited from the NYOTA program, including Loroo who benefited from the NYOTA Business Support and is currently undergoing mentorship and others going through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) training.

The entrepreneurs will also showcase their innovations at the upcoming Kenya Public–Private Sector MSMEs Dialogue (MSMEs Connect) in Ekalees Centre, Lodwar, Turkana County.

MSEA remains committed to supporting micro and small enterprises across the country through capacity building, innovation support, and access to markets.
