Detectives have arrested ten suspects in Siaya County in connection with a series of violent robberies and gang rape incidents reported in the region.
The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation conducted at around 4am, triggered by cases reported on March 17 and March 21, 2026.
Police said the breakthrough came with the arrest of Brian Ochieng, 21, and Titus Omondi alias “Tito,” 20, who were found in possession of suspected stolen mobile phones.

Investigative leads from the two suspects guided detectives to additional hideouts in Ulafu, Umala and Ramba villages, where further operations were conducted.
Eight more suspects were subsequently arrested in the coordinated raids. They were identified as Julius Odongo Otieno, Elvis Otieno Juma, Castro Odhiambo, Stanley Ochieng alias “Stanoo,” James Otieno Onyango, Stephen Otieno Atieno, Javan Omondi alias “Atego,” and Japhet Shikulu alias “Jeff,” aged between 17 and 24.
During the operation, detectives recovered several items believed to have been used in the crimes, including six pangas, a knife, two spotlights, two dust coats, and four additional suspected stolen mobile phones. The items have been secured as exhibits.

The suspects are in custody and are expected to be arraigned in court as investigations continue.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has warned that it will continue pursuing individuals involved in criminal activities and urged members of the public to report crime through its toll-free hotlines.
