Video Emerges Showing Alleged Assault on Senator Osotsi

A video has surfaced online appearing to show the assault of Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi at a café in Kisumu.

In the footage, two men, one dressed in what appears to be a black T-shirt, trousers, cap and black shoes and another in a grey hoodie, trousers and black shoes, are seen confronting and attacking a man believed to be the senator.

The individual is seen on the ground bleeding as the two attackers continue to hit and kick him. At several points, he attempts to get up, but one of the assailants pulls him back down and continues the assault.

Staff from the eatery are later seen intervening and shielding him from further blows as they push the attackers away.

The authenticity of the video has not been independently verified and authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the footage.

The development comes after reports emerged that Osotsi was injured in an attack in Kisumu and airlifted to Nairobi for treatment.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna confirmed the incident, stating that he had spoken to the senator’s team.

“I have spoken to Senator Osotsi’s team and confirmed that he was viciously attacked and injured in Kisumu earlier today when he went to get a haircut,” Sifuna said.

According to his office, the senator had visited the Acacia area for routine grooming before proceeding to a nearby restaurant, where he interacted with members of the public.

“It was during this time that a group of gun-wielding individuals confronted him, questioned his political stance and subsequently subjected him to physical manhandling,” the office said.

Osotsi is currently receiving medical treatment in Nairobi.

Authorities are yet to provide further details on the incident as investigations continue.
