Nairobi Set for Major Upgrade as Modern Arena Project Takes Shape in Railway City Plan

By Andrew Kariuki

The construction of a modern arena and entertainment district in central Nairobi is set to mark a major milestone in the realisation of the Nairobi Railway City Project.

The development is expected to transform the Central Business District into a leading hub for sports, entertainment, culture and commerce, positioning the capital as a key destination within East Africa and beyond.

Structured as a long-term partnership, the project aligns with Kenya’s broader national infrastructure agenda and is designed to complement existing developments such as the Talanta Stadium and the Bomas International Convention Complex, forming an integrated ecosystem for events and investment.

The agreement was formalised at State House, Nairobi, where a lease deal was signed between Zaria Group and Kenya Railways Corporation, cementing the commitment to deliver the project.

According to the plan, the arena and entertainment district will be completed within 12 months and is projected to generate up to 25,000 jobs annually, offering a significant boost to employment and economic activity.

The project forms part of ongoing efforts to modernise Nairobi’s urban landscape while enhancing its appeal as a regional and global destination for large-scale events and business.
