Several Cabinet Secretaries announce appointments, reappointments in key agencies

Several Cabinet Secretaries have announced a wide range of appointments and reappointments to boards and councils of state corporations.

In notices issued on April 17, 2026, Treasury CS John Mbadi reappointed five members to the Privatisation Commission for a two-year term effective April 27, 2026.

The members include Edward Kobuthi, Dr Irene Njeri Wanyoike, Celine Anyango Orata, David J.O. Nyakang’o, and Ambassador Wellington Pakia Godo.

The Treasury CS also constituted a Search and Selection Panel for the recruitment of independent directors to government-owned enterprises.

“The Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury appoints— Under subsection 6(a)— Frank Mwiti, FCPA Risper Olick, Quresha Abdullahi, FCS Joshua Wambua, Under subsection 6(b)— Lawrence Kibet, to be Members of the Search and Selection Panel for the Recruitment of Independent Directors of the Government Owned Enterprises, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 17th April, 2026,” the notice said.

Separately, the Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, Alfred Mutua, reappointed Isaac Kaberia and Dr Milkah Kimonda as trustees of the National Social Security Fund Board.

Their tenure runs for three years beginning April 17, 2026.

Also, Cabinet Secretary for East African Community, the ASALS and Regional Development Beatrice Askul Moe has reappointed several members to the Ewaso Ng’iro South River Basin Development Authority board for a three-year term.

The appointees include Caroline Pulei, Eunice Singoei, Mathew Gathua, Elijah Kesei Metian, Veronica Silantoi Mwangi, William Kenteyia, and Silas Otieno Ojienda Victor.

The trade and industry docket also saw changes, with CS Lee Kinyanjui reappointing five members to the Kenya Leather Development Council, while also appointing Rev. Kenneth Maina Wanjiru as a new board member for a three-year term.

In the housing and lands sector, Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome reappointed Dr Victor O. Olonde and appointed Rashid Haron Shake to the Valuers Registration Board for a three-year term.

At the education and public service level, multiple councils also saw changes.Education CS Julius Migos Ogamba reappointed leadership teams to national polytechnics, including Kitale, Meru, Kenya Coast, and Nyeri National Polytechnics, extending chairpersons’ and board members’ terms by three years.

Public Service CS Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku appointed Dr Eldah Onsomu to the Kenya School of Government Council, also for a three-year term.

The wide-ranging appointments cut across key sectors including education, trade, infrastructure, labour, and economic planning, reinforcing the government’s ongoing restructuring of state corporations.

Most of the appointments take effect from April 17, 2026.
