Suba South Member of Parliament Caroli Omondi has expressed frustration over Kenya’s persistently high fuel prices, saying the government has yet to act on proposals put forward by legislators to ease the burden on citizens.

Speaking on Ramogi TV on Tuesday evening, Omondi said lawmakers had already presented recommendations to the government but are still waiting for a meaningful response.

“We have suggested to the government what needs to be done to help citizens. We are still waiting on them to take action,” he said.

The legislator questioned why fuel prices remain elevated in Kenya compared to neighbouring East African countries, saying the disparity was a cause for deep concern.

He noted that making further suggestions to the government was becoming increasingly difficult, citing the complexity of navigating the thin line between the Parliamentary majority and minority sides.

Omondi also lamented the limited time afforded to MPs during Parliamentary debate, saying he was only given five minutes to address what he described as pressing issues affecting ordinary Kenyans.

The MP confirmed that he has submitted a three-page document containing his proposals to Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.

Nyoro is expected to appear before the committee to present recommendations aimed at lowering the cost of living and reducing fuel prices.

“I have so many proposals to put forward, but Parliament only gave me five minutes,” Omondi said, adding that he hoped his submission through Nyoro would give his recommendations the weight they deserve.
