Double Tragedy as Utumishi Girls Student’s Mother Dies in Kariandusi Road Crash While Rushing to School After Deadly Fire

A heartbreaking double tragedy has struck families affected by the deadly Utumishi Girls Academy dormitory fire after the mother of one of the students died in a road accident at Kariandusi along the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway while rushing to the school.

Police confirmed that the woman died on the spot after the vehicle she was travelling in was involved in the accident, while her husband survived with injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The couple was reportedly heading to Gilgil following news of the devastating school fire that killed at least 16 students and left several others injured.

The latest incident has deepened the pain surrounding the Utumishi Girls tragedy, which has shocked the nation. The dormitory fire reportedly broke out shortly after midnight, trapping students inside as they slept before emergency responders arrived at the scene.

Authorities have since launched investigations into both the cause of the fire and the fatal road accident as grieving families continue to seek answers over the twin tragedies.
