Police in Bomet County have arrested a 52-year-old man accused of allegedly defiling two minors aged six and 10 in an incident reported in Bomet East Sub-County.
The suspect, identified as Kipkirui Sitonik, is being held at Longisa Police Station as investigations continue.
According to Bomet East Sub-County Police Commander Michael Singa, the incident allegedly occurred on Friday during lunch break after the children reportedly left school and were heading home.
Police said the suspect allegedly lured the minors to a maize plantation in the Murany area, where the offence is said to have taken place.
Authorities further stated that after the incident, the children returned home and informed their families, prompting the matter to be reported to police.
The minors were later taken to Longisa Referral Hospital for medical assessment as detectives launched investigations into the allegations.
A search operation involving police officers and members of the public subsequently led to the arrest of the suspect at a local entertainment spot in Kembu Trading Centre.
Police said the man remains in custody pending further investigations and possible arraignment in court.
