A 70 year old man was arrested for the hit and run case of Nicky’s dad. He pulled over and asked the injured man if he was okay but he didn’t call for help.
Charles Polevich the man in question is facing charges for leaving the scene and tampering with physical evidence that was connected to the death of the 64 year old man Robert Maraj.
Charles runs an environmental consulting business, has been freed on bail after he was arraigned in Nassau court. His driver’s license was suspended and he was also ordered to surrender his passport since he cannot leave the state.
“he got out of the car and he looked at the deceased got into his car and made the conscious decision to leave instead of dialing 911 ,instead of calling an ambulance for the man, he went home and secluded the vehicle he was well aware of what he did .” said the county police detective .
Robert was hit by car at around 6:15 pm while walking along Roslyn road and he was pronounced dead on arrival to hospital.
Charles surrendered himself to the authorities after they used footage from the surveillance cameras along the streets in efforts to track the car involved in the hit and run. It was a white 1992 Volvo station wagon.
Carol Maraj said that she was very happy a suspect was found in relation to the death of her husband.
