Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations kicked off countrywide in extra ordinary fashion, a pandemic and an awkward time of the year – By Gerald Gekara.
The Ministry of Education will administer examination papers to 1.2 million candidates with no exception.
More than 10,000 exam centres are expected to administer the KCPE exainations between March 22 and March 24, 2021.
Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha, while appearing for a container-opening session in Thika, Kiambu County, said the exams are expected to be successful.
“The students are very well prepared, the examination was also prepared taking that into consideration, all government agencies are here and as you can see, it is all systems go, all the 479 examination containers were opened today at 6am across the country,” CS Magoha said.

He pledged unwavering support for the students despite the challenges surrounding the exam period.
He has also cautioned against exam malpractices, urging exam invigilators to be on the look out for mischief.
The class of 2020 bore the brunt of the pandemic, after the education calendar was suspended to protect students against COVID-19.
