During a night operation near Ngong Town, Ngong OCS Philip Olenkindi was attacked and shot by four suspected robbers.
The incident happened on Tuesday, June 15, about 11 p.m., according to a police report filed at Ngong Police Station.
When they came upon the armed individuals, the OCS and four other police officers were patrolling the Kahara neighborhood.
“They encountered four suspicious men who were walking on foot towards Ngong Township. The police officers alighted from the motor vehicle to inquire on where they were going but they started firing at them.” the report read.
Olenkindi had shoulder injuries and was brought to Nairobi West Hospital, where he was treated and kept under observation.
Detectives stated that they were awaiting a ballistic report to launch a manhunt for the suspected robbers.
