Former Kiambu Governor Kabogo is among leaders from Central Kenya who never miss their words

Former Kiambu governor William Kabogo is among leaders from Central Kenya who never miss their words and is not shy to say what he believes is right.

Kabogo joined politics in 2002 when he contested for Juja parliamentary seat on a KANU ticket but lost to incumbent Stephen Ndichu. He later decamped to Sisi kwa Sisi party and later defeated Ndichu. In 2007 he tried to defend his seat but lost to George Thuo but he petitioned Thuo’s victory which was nullified and later he won with a landslide on a Narc-Kenya ticket.

Having been in politics for years, Kabogo in 2016 warned Dp Ruto that he was not an automatic presidential candidate come 2022 a move which some believe it cost him his re-election as governor for Kiambu.

“Don’t wait to be endorsed for the presidency. Go to the ground and talk to the people,” Kabogo issued a warning to Ruto.

Later the same year Dp Ruto thanked William Kabogo for challenging him and said he was ready to prove he deserves votes from Mt Kenya.

“Nashangaa sana watu wanakashifu Kabogo kwa matamshi yake. Kabogo alisema huyu Ruto tutampigia kura 2022 lakini lazima atafute hiyo kura. Hiyo ni maneno mzuri sana Kabogo. Nitatafuta hiyo kura.” Dp Ruto thanked Kabogo.

Since then, Dp Ruto has made significant inroads to President Uhuru’s central Kenya region. First Kabogo’s prophecy came to pass following recent concluded Kiambaa by-elections where Ruto’s candidate who vied on a UDA ticket emerged victoriously.

William Kabogo went ahead and assured Ruto that he will clinch the presidency come 2022 and those who doubted him will be shocked.

“Sahii Hustler mwenyewe ni number two. Na hustler atakuwa number 1. If you have a doubt remove it from your mind today,” said Kabogo.

With less than 12 months to next year’s general elections, Dp Ruto has already shown early signs of succeeding President Uhuru posing the question, could Kabogo’s prophecy in 2016 about Ruto come to pass 6 years later having prophecied that hustler [Ruto] will become number 1 come 2022?
